Today, April 26, 2010 is the 1st day of our 5-day VBS in Santolan, Pasig City.  This year’s theme will focus on caring for God’s creation and is centered on the passage found in Colossians 1:16 “All things were created by Him and for Him.” The theme for this year is very timely and applicable because the community have suffered so much from Typhoon Ondoy last October 2009.  They’ve lost everything; they’ve lost their loved ones.

We are expecting 50 children with age ranging from 4 to 12 years old.  The group will be divided into two:  Planets Savers (ages 4-8) and Planet Pals (ages 9-12).  We have 10 workers who signed up to be teachers and they will be called the Nature Guides.  Support group such as those in-charge in Registration, Food, Venue, Music, etc will be called Assistant Nature Guides.

Zone 1 (or Day 1) will focus on “Knowing the Creator”, re-visiting the 1st Chapter of Genesis.  This lesson will remind all of us that “God created the Heavens and the Earth”.  Each day will end with a Life Verse (Memory Verse) that will serve as a reminder to them of the lessons taught for that day.

Zone 2 will talk about “Managing Wisely” the resources that God has given us taking from the lessons from the story of Joseph (“The Dreamer”) who managed wisely the Land of Egypt during the 7 years of abundance and 7 years of famine.

Zone 3 will teach us and the Planets Savers/Pals how to “Help the Needy”. Lessons from the famous story in the Bible “The Good Samaritan” will be shared to the children.  “Blessed is He who is kind to the needy” (Proverbs 14:21b).

Zone 4 is all about “Living in Harmony” taking the story of “Isaac and Abimelech” from the Old Testament.  The Lord has instructed us to love one another and live in harmony with each other.  Furthermore, the Lord has said that we have to live in harmony, too with nature and all His creations.  This can be shown by preserving, saving and caring for the tress, plants and animals.

The last day (Zone 5) will end with lessons from the Birth of Jesus Christ.  “The Savior of the world has come” (Luke 2:1-20), let us all Honor Him and tell others about Him.

The group have prepared 4 songs entitled:  Home Planet (Theme Song), Melody of Love, Psalm 47 and The God of Creation.  We are all looking forward to the Graduation Day on Saturday, May 1 wherein our Planet Savers and Planet Pals will have short presentations of these songs with actions.

Every Planet Saver/Pal will receive a certificate and a “faith bracelet” to remind them of the gift of salvation that God has given us through His son, Jesus Christ and to share the same faith to others.

After the effect of destructive Typhoon Ondoy, Santolan Outreach Ministry has gained momentum again in reaching out to the lost souls. 2010 has so much promises to claim from the Lord and Share the Gift, Share the Word Ministry is with them.

From January to March, we have continued with our Saturday Fellowship with the children (and Mothers). We have lost some, but God replaced and sent new children and new families to join the fellowship. Share Ministry has been providing teaching materials (including supplies) for the fellowship and a small amount for the snacks of the children every Saturday.

To invite more children to the Fellowship, end of April, beginning of May (April 26 – May 1, 2010) we have launched the Daily Vacation Bible Study (DVBS). We had over 50 children and 10 volunteer workers. Share Ministry provided teaching materials (and translating those from English to Tagalog), conducted the orientation for volunteer workers, and provided supplies & food for the 6-day activity.

We have drawn so much inspiration to this activity and we have promised the children to do the same in 2011. Furthermore, as a result of this activity, we have decided to make our Saturday Fellowship more structured. Themes and topics have been assigned every month or every quarter to fully make an impact to children.

The month of June is something to Praise God for. The Department of Social Welfare and Development recognized Share Ministry as one of its Resource Agencies. Together with this, at the start of School Year 2010-2011, we have provided 1 set of school uniform to 10 deserving elementart pupils who are part of the fellowship.

Last July 21-22, a volunteer Trainer conducted a training for our volunteer workers (mothers and youth) to equip them in teaching the children every Saturday. At least 3 mothers and 3 youth committed themselves to teach the children alternately. Thus this training to give them more confidence in teaching in a structured way.

During this time, we have also acquired new teaching materials based on the new structure we are following. The same training was re-echoed to the youth. Since August up to October, we had been teaching biblical values on TRUTH and HONESTY. On their graduation day last October 30, 2010, we were impressed and inspired by what the children had learned over the 3 months. We had small gifts for the children for a job well done. For the following months of November -January 2011 we will be teaching values on RESPECT & OBEDIENCE and after that follows lessons on SELF-DISCIPLINE & RESPONSIBILITY for the months of FEBRUARY-APRIL 2011.

Towards the end of the year, last December 18, Santolan Outreach Ministry celebrated its 4th year Anniversary, in support to this, Share Ministry shared gifts to children and families. The anniversary celebration was part of our Annual Thanksgiving.

We praise the Lord for the lives of the children, for their desire to know more about Him, for their families especially their parents who support their participation in every activity that we do.

For 2011, Share Ministry, by faith prays this prayer: “Oh that yoy would bless (us) indeed, and enlarge (our) territory, that Your hand would be with (us), and that You would keep (us) from evil, that (we) may not cause pain!” (1 Chronicles 4:9-10)

San Jose Delmonte City (SJDC), Bulacan is 37 kilometers away from Quezon City. Passing through Fairview Ave and Tungko, the road to SJDC is winding and hilly.  One could really say at the end of the trip “Whew! What a roller coaster ride!”

In the vast area of the government’s relocation site lays Phase 4- Escopa Relocation Site.  The government has moved them from Manila’s slum areas believing that comfort can be found there.

The place is gifted with quietness and huge surroundings, but still families and communities are confronted by the truth that life is still tough.  Job opportunities are rare for parents.  Children are left on the streets unmindful of their situation, malnourished and famished.

Share Ministry launched its feeding program last March 27, 2008 to address malnutrition.  50 children ages 3 to 6 years are under our care.
Selection of children was carefully administered by the partner church using household survey (with parameters and criteria) as an instrument to determine qualified recipients.

Final screening was done by both the partner church and the ministry servants.  Parents were invited together with the child to thoroughly explain the program.  Share Ministry hopes to adopt a co-shared approach in the near future to ensure ownership and acceptance of the program.

Pre-diagnostic study was conducted to assess the health condition of the children.  The initial assessment of the doctor reports that almost 80% of the children are infected with Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB).  Share Ministry sees the need to treat these children immediately; however, financial resources are limited as of this moment to feeding program and learning center program.

We continuously pray for sponsors in this area.

The feeding program is a continuous activity until the children become physically healthy and mentally ready for grade school.

Share @ Living Stream Learning Center Program is the new program of Share Ministry in partnership with the Living Stream Foursquare Church.

At Share Ministry, we value the importance of education.  It is a known fact that not all Filipino children are given the opportunity to study. When the chance to open a learning center came, Share Ministry boldly entered the door that God has opened.

What is unique with our approach is the foundation of our teachings which is all based on the Bible.  Above all the worldly knowledge that the children will learn is the divine wisdom and knowledge that only God can give through His scriptures.

The teachers in the learning center were trained by the Center for Early Childhood Care and Development last summer.  God really chooses His people- our volunteer teachers come from the community as well.  We are so blessed by the lives of Gemma and Charles who selflessly offered their talents and skills for the Glory of God’s name.

We have 14 young minds under the Step-up Prep; 10 for the Jolly Nursery ; and 11 for Wonder Kinder.

Balik-aral aims to bring back children in school and pursue their dreams with the blessings of God through our ministry.

In addition to the support that we are extending, the children (together with their parents) are part of the outreach program (conducted by Faith Fellowship) every Saturday which gives them the opportunity to listen and learn more about Jesus Christ.

The support from the outreach program completes the objective of the Ministry in sharing the gift and sharing the Word.

Marvelous May 2009

Welcome to the Month of Flowers!

As we enjoy the blooming flowers and get pleasure from its sweet scents, Share Ministry welcomes the start of a new project called “Balik-Aral”.

As we say “Farewell” to our community in Phase 4- Escopa Relocation Site in San Jose Delmonte City, Bulacan, we say “Hello” to our community in Marikina City.  Our partnership (for over a year) with the Living Stream Foursquare Church and its community in Bulacan has been a productive one.  We learned so much lessons that we will keep and look back as we continue to serve the Lord and His children.

“BALIK-ARAL” project is the new road that we are taking until 2010.  This projects aims to bring back children who were out-of-school for some time.  We desire that they continue to pursue their dreams with the help of Share Ministry and with the blessings of the Lord.  We are offering a scholarship support for 10 deserving Elementary Pupils in Santolan, Pasig City.

Aside from the scholarship support that we will extend, our very desire is to share the Word of God with them and their families.  We will have a fellowship with them every quarter which will give us (at Share Ministry) opportunity to know them better because we consider them as our partners rather than beneficiaries or recipients of this support.  Share Ministry cannot do this alone; we need the support of the parents and the children to make this project successful.  We want to build a “relationship” with them.

As we start this new journey with “Balik-Aral”, we hope that all of you will join us in prayer for blessings, guidance and wisdom from the Lord for all of us.

Awesome April 2009!

It is Summer time! Our children successfully had their Graduation Day in March 22,2009.  All (33) our children made it!  The feeding will be continuous this summer time.

In the coming months, we expect changes in our programs.  Share Ministry will announce it soon.  We are looking forward to these, since we wanted to personally and effectively serve the needy children in our community.  We are praying for God’s blessings and guidance in this area as we desire to fulfill His plan and will for the children.  Please pray with us.

Marching March 2009!

We are marching in victory as we celebrate the 1st year anniversary of “ Loaves and Fishes “ Feeding Program this coming March 27, 2009.

Looking back from the 1st day that we started, God’s faithfulness has been our driving force. Without His grace and blessings, we could have not made it from once a week feeding to an everyday one.

Partners and supporters never cease to surprise us with blessings that come from their hearts. Together, we can make the lives of these children better—All for the Glory of God.

As we pray for more years for this program, may God open new doors for us to serve other needy children.

The school year will be over soon. Our sponsored (50) children are looking forward to summer vacation. But before that, we will witness their Moving Up ceremony come 3rd or 4th week of March.

We are glad to inform everybody that the 2nd Board Meeting of Share Ministry was a success.  It was more than a business meeting — it was a day of fellowship and sharing as we studied God’s word before the proper discussion took place.

Fantastic February 2009!

Welcome to the month of LOVE .

John 13: 34 reminds us to love one another as Christ has loved us. And, He calls us to love our brothers and sisters always. We are to offer each other a deep, humble, sincere, patient, compassionate and enduring love.

At Share Ministry, we never stop loving and caring. It is our great joy and fulfillment to love these children. Our two programs are still on—the Loaves and Fishes Feeding Program and the Learning Center.

This coming February 7, the Officers of Share Ministry will meet to discuss the updates and assess the development of the two programs. Our feeding program turns 1 year next month! Praise God!

As you celebrate the month of love, seize each moment, show your love and care to your family, friends and to those who need one. There are so many ways to show your love. Forget about material and expensive gifts, they are of no value—try to share a simple act of kindness – a hug, a smile, a helping hand, a kiss, a tap, a sincere “I love you”. These are the things that warm the heart and touch the soul and it will cost you nothing at all! =)

We draw inspiration from God’s parable of a Mustard Seed, (Mark 4:30-32) “Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? 31It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade.”

We are humbly starting this small ministry because of our love for God and our compassion for the children.  We hang on to God’s power to multiply and produce greater things out of our small beginnings – for the Glory of His Name.  He causes everything to exist, to grow and to multiply – for His purpose.
